A LOOK INTO THIS WEEK'S TECH CLASS: *At the end of each week, I will be posting a short summary of what we learned in Tech class. I will also post pictures of the students doing activities or projects. |
|
*Welcome (: We will begin the year by getting to know one another and discussing rules so students know what it expected of them during tech class!
*This week, third grade practiced typing skills with a program called Typing.com to test what they remembered from last year!
*We started creating word clouds about ourselves using a program on the ABC Ya website this week.
*Third graders finished their All About Me word clouds and practiced using the camera to take pictures to attach to their work this week!
*This week third grade will be taking a timed typing test on the typing.com website, which we will work on throughout the year to improve speed and accuracy.
*Third graders will be learning about blogging this week and get to respond to a teacher post!
*This week we will work on editing skills in Google Docs, where third graders will edit a poem. We will learn how to change the font style, color and size as well as add images!
*Third graders will get to post their very first blog! They will also work on leaving meaningful comments to one another's blog posts.
*This week, third graders will begin their first typing lesson on the Typing.com website.
*Third graders completed a Halloween activity with Google Sheets where they followed directions to reveal a special Halloween picture! It was tricky, but they had fun!
*Third graders will practice more with lessons on the Typing.com website. This is a great site because students are free to move at their own pace to complete lessons.
*Third grade will work to create a spreadsheet to track their progress from the typing.com website. Third graders have been working hard to practice their typing skills and some have set great goals for themselves that I hope they can meet by the end of the year (:
*We will complete a winter magnet activity where 3rd graders will create their own stories using winter words. Happy Holidays and have a great break! (:
*Welcome back!! We will blog about our winter breaks and see who was practicing their typing with all that time off!
*We will start to learn about code this week and what it takes to be a computer programmer. 3rd graders will be working towards creating their very own game!
*Third graders will participate in a virtual valentines day project, where we are paired with a partner school to connect with and make virtual valentines for! I will be posting our projects on the website after we are finished (:
*Today we practiced some typing and took a timed test to see how much our typing speed and accuracy has improved!
*Third grade will begin to use Build with Chrome, where they will work through puzzles to construct buildings, vehicles, characters and more. They will also be creating and building their own structures!
*Third grade will be starting some test prep this week. We will talking about state testing, watch online video tutorials and take some practice tests in order to familiarize students with the website they will be using when it comes time for their testing!
*Third grade will start a final project for the end of the year. We will be creating a presentation to leave for the 2nd graders who will be coming to third grade next year. Students will leave tips and share favorite memories from their 3rd grade year!
*Deputy Snyder will be in this week to show a video and talk to the students about Internet Safety!
*For the final week of school, students will get to use the Makey-Makey kits, which are 21st century inventions allowing students to be creative and explore using materials such as fruit, veggies, tin foil, play dough and more!

Don't forget about class dojo! Class dojo is a behavior system where students are awarded points for good behavior, but they may also loose points for not so good behavior! Your child should have brought a letter home with information allowing you to access our class to keep track of your student. I also ask that you send back the bottom copy signed if you'd like to connect with our class! Students can also log on to class dojo as students with a code included in the letter! Thanks!
Don't forget about the winter break challenge! Return your calendars with a parents signature by Friday, January 8th to be entered in a raffle for a prize! |
