TECHNOLOGY ACCESS
Every student at Big Walnut is given an individual ID number that allows them to purchase lunch as well as access many of the technology programs we will use in class. Please help your child learn their ID number so they are able to log on without teacher help.

A LOOK INTO THIS WEEK'S TECH CLASS: *At the end of each week, I will be posting a short summary of what we learned in Tech class. I will also post pictures of the students doing activities or projects. |
|
*Welcome (: We will begin this school year by getting to know each other and discussing rules of the tech lab.
*This week, Kindergarten practiced using various types of technology we have available in the school. We played on the Smart Board, used the Google Chrome books, got onto the big Apple computers and learned with the iPads as well!
*Kindergarten will be starting some mouse practice to get them more familiar with using the computers this week. *This week we explored the ABC Ya website for fun games and learned how to plug in and use our headphones!
*Teaching the students about the different parts of the computer is important. We will be working more on identifying and using the different parts of the computer including: the mouse, keyboard and computer screen.
*The goal is to get the younger students familiar with all different types of technology available in school. We will be working with iPads, Chrome Books, Mac Computers and the Smart Board for a few weeks!
*Kindergarten students have been doing a wonderful job getting onto the iPads, Chrome Books and Mac Computers all by themselves! We are still working on mouse control, turning up the volume and plugging in our headphones.
*Kindergarten will work on the Tux Paint program to paint a picture and add their name! This will help students with mouse control and keyboarding skills. We will also learn how to print our pictures!
*Kindergarteners learned about the Raz Kids program, which helps improve reading skills! We practiced logging on and listening to stories today.
*Kindergarten will be working on some fun Halloween activities before the holiday!
*Kindergarteners are doing a FANTASTIC job with reading practice on the Raz Kids program. They are great at getting logged on and started all on their own!
*Kindergarteners are using the computers almost INDEPENDENTLY! I am so proud that they are able to get on and choose the game they would like to play all on their own! They are becoming great with helping others as well!
*Kindergarten got to explore tons of math games on the Turtle Diary website. They LOVED it and did amazing with the games!
*We had a fun time taking a brain break to dance to the Pop See Ko video on Go Noodle!
*These last two weeks of school before break, we will work on some fun Winter activities. Kindergarteners will make their own snowman or snowflake and print them to bring home! We will also play some fun new games as well! Happy Holidays (:
*Welcome back!! We will practice some basic skills this week to see how much the Kindergarteners remembered with their long time off!
*Kindergarten will start to learn about code this week, which is what computer programmers use. We will use the kodable website to practice code ourselves!
*We will learn about Microsoft Word and practice typing our name and some popcorn words on the program!
*Kindergarten will be doing some fun valentines day activities this week.
*We wil explore the Seussville website in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday!
*Kindergarten will learn about Google Drive and practice logging in to their accounts, which they will use as they go through school at Big Walnut!
*We will be focusing on some math skills this week by competing against one another using the iPads and the Kahoot! website!
*Deputy Snyder will be in this week to show a video and talk to the students about Internet Safety!

REMINDERS: |
*Don't forget about class dojo! Class dojo is a behavior system where students are awarded points for good behavior, but they may also loose points for not so good behavior! Your child should have brought a letter home with information allowing you to access our class to keep track of your student. With your permission and email students are able to sign up as well to log on to class dojo under their own account! Thanks!
*Lunch numbers are very important for students to know. Student's lunch ID numbers are used at lunch time, in tech class and other classes as well. Please keep working with your child to help them remember their lunch number! (: *Don't forget about the winter break challenge! Return your calendars with a parents signature by Friday, January 8th to be entered in a raffle for a prize! |
