A LOOK INTO THIS WEEK'S TECH CLASS:
*At the end of each week, I will be posting a short summary of what we learned in Tech class. I will also post pictures of the students doing activities or projects. |
|
*Welcome (: We will begin this year by getting to know one another and discussing rules for the tech lab so students know what is expected!
*This week, fourth grade practiced typing skills with a program called Typing.com to test their knowledge from last year!
*Fourth grade started creating acrostic poems about themselves using a program called collage maker this week.
*This week, fourth grade finished their acrostic poems and used the computer camera to take pictures that they will attach to their work!
*This week, fourth grade will be completing a timed typing test on the typing.com website, where we will work throughout the year to improve our speed and accuracy.
*Fourth grade will be working to organize their Google drive and bookmarks this week, an important skill to help keep all their work in one easy to find place!
*We will be learning about blogs this week and fourth graders will post their first comment to a teacher post!
*This week we will work on editing a Google Doc. Fourth grade will learn to change the font style, color and size, as well as add an image!
*Fourth grade will post their first blog and learn how to leave meaningful comments to classmates this week.
*This week, fourth graders will begin their first lesson on the typing.com website to improve typing skills.
*Fourth grade completed Halloween activities this week where they were introduced to Google Sheets. They had a set of directions to follow to reveal a special Halloween picture! It was tricky, but they loved it once they got the hang of it!
*Fourth grade has been practicing typing skills with blog posts and the Typing.com website. Typing.com is great because students are free to work at their own pace. Students are getting good at using appropriate fingers and proper form while typing!
*Fourth grade will be creating a spreadsheet to track their progress on the typing.com website. Fourth grade has been working hard to complete typing lessons and some have set outstanding goals for themselves that I hope they can meet by the end of the year (:
*We will complete a winter magnet activity where 4th graders will create their own stories using winter words. Happy Holidays and have a great break! (:
*Welcome back!! We will blog about our winter breaks and see who was practicing their typing with all that time off!
*We will begin to learn about code this week. 4th grade will learn what it takes to be a computer program and work towards making their very own game!
*Fourth graders will participate in a virtual valentines day project, where we are paired with a partner school to connect with and make virtual valentines for! I will be posting our projects on the website after we are finished (:
*Fourth grade will be doing some typing practice, since we have taken a little break. Let's see how much they remember and if their wpm scores have improved!
*Fourth grade will begin to use Build with Chrome, where they will work through puzzles to construct buildings, vehicles, characters and more. They will also be creating and building their own structures!
*Fourth grade will be starting some test prep this week. We will talking about state testing, watch online video tutorials and take some practice tests in order to familiarize students with the website they will be using when it comes time for their testing!
*Fourth grade will be starting a final project for the end of the year. Each 4th grader will create a slide about themselves for the 4th grade celebration, where they will share pictures, their favorite 4th grade memories, what they want to be when they grow up and more!
*Deputy Snyder will be in this week to show a video and talk to the students about Internet Safety!
*For the final week of school, students will get to use the Makey-Makey kits, which are 21st century inventions allowing students to be creative and explore using materials such as fruit, veggies, tin foil, play dough and more!

Don't forget about class dojo! Class dojo is a behavior system where students are awarded points for good behavior, but they may also loose points for not so good behavior! Your child should have brought a letter home with information allowing you to access our class to keep track of your student. I also ask that you send back the bottom copy signed if you'd like to connect with our class! Students can also log on to class dojo as students with a code included in the letter! Thanks!
Don't forget about the winter break challenge! Return your calendars with a parents signature by Friday, January 8th to be entered in a raffle for a prize! |
